Our Team
This region for our founders and team has been a huge inspiration. All highly concerned by the natural and cultural heritage of the Yucatan Peninsula, the project began in 2007 when Johan, passionate about Mayan archeology and history visited the little village of Tulum. After discovering the surroundings of Tulum, with its beautiful biodiversity, nature and local communities, he decided to stay here creating the first ecotourism travel agency to preserve the nature and culture of this area.
From operations to logistics, marketing, sales, and reservations, each day all our team keep effort to provide you a good customer service and memorable experiences. You will be in good hands, feeling safe during the whole trip with a caring staff. Our guides are all certified so that you can spend a day without worrying about anything, letting yourself be guided through Sian Ka'an.
Our Vision
Our project was born from pure love of Mexico’s Sian Ka’an Biosphere and its incredible, unique biodiversity. Friends already involved in conservation and eco-tourism in the area saw the opportunity to build their vision of tourism and conservation in a place that deeply needed it – Sian Ka’an Reserve.
It is now our pleasure to welcome everyone interested in sharing the journey devoted to deepening understanding and connection with nature by means of exploring our local jewel – UNESCO World heritage site, Biosphere of Sian Ka’an. We are passionately dedicated to showing our visitors the true beauty of Sian Ka’an nature and we feel that only by putting spotlight on this area can we ignite in our guests the same passion we feel to continue protecting it…
The simple truth is, with rapidly developing tourism continuing its course throughout Tulum area – if people don’t know about the intricate interconnectedness of local ecosystems, then they will not be able to protect them. Therefore, it is our conviction that only if you discover and actually feel the true magic of nature living inside Sian Ka’an, will you be inspired to preserve it for many generations to come.
Our Values
Mexico Kan Tours is a pionner eco-responsible travel agency offering high quality travel experiences connecting to the nature through the Biosphere of Sian Ka'an. Nature is a precious resource that we feel is essential to preserve. For the past 15 years we have been focusing on responsible tourism that respects the environment and local communities, to allow an unprecedented encounter between Sian Ka'an and our future tourists.
We offer only small group tours for a personalized experience that reduces the direct impact on nature, without the need for any form of plastic. Our values are shared by all our staff, our passionate and qualified guides, our carefully selected tourism partners and our visitors who we educate every day on our tours to make positive impact.
We work with the local community and Mayan families, sharing the beauties of Mexico's lands, culture and origins. Our boat captains are natives of Punta Allen and know the best places to travel through these wonderful waters to see wildlife. The meal provided includes freshly caught fish from the fishermen of Punta Allen village. These are cross-cultural exchanges and initiatives that allow for local development and environmental conservation. It's why our motto is "Travel with intention".

Our Actions
As a responsible travel agency, we really take care about the conservation and protection of the beautiful environment surrounding Tulum, natural reserves, beaches, coral reefs... This is why we work on reducing our waste as much as possible.
Sharing our values and insights of traveling with intention is really important for us. Indeed we participate in beach clean ups each year.
