Sian Kaan is a natural jewel that offers an unobstructed view of the Caribbean Sea, endless stretches of pristine wetlands, a huge biodiversity of ecosystems.  The reserve will not let your eyes rest for a minute, you will be amazed at every movement of your head, it is not for nothing that in the Mayan language, Sian Ka'an means "born from the sky.

 

After driving 40 minutes on a bumpy and unpaved road to reach the departure point, you will take the boat and meet your local captain for the day. Since 1987, the reserve is classed as part of the UNESCO World Heritage site and now the mains local activities business as fishing and tourism are regulated, supporting the local economy and protecting the unique ecosystems. It is a great example of local conservation development. You can’t be between better hands than with a local captain to spot all the wildlife there are.

The first part is touring the lagoon, through mangroves forest where the wetlands meet the sea in Boca Paila for looking and observing crocodiles, manatees and a wide of birds variety.

An amazing day out of Tulum to breathe the fresh air of the nature and let yourself be seduced by the little smile of the dolphins that you will approach moving among the different shade of blue water.

Continue to another wild ride on the open sea where if the weather allows it, you will jump into the water and swim and snorkel at the off shore of the Caribbean reef with a countless aquatic lives. Home of over 200 species of fish, sea turtles, octopus, corals, and maybe nurse sharks, it is a real aquarium that is breathtaking for a while. 

To relax, refresh yourself and enjoy this beautiful environment before eating , we bring to a beautiful crystal clear water, white sand beach sandbar.

Punta Allen will welcome you for a delicious buffet in front of the sea. This local town of fisherman is off the beaten path and really authentic. To end the day and take the boat back to Tulum, you have free time to cool off in the hammocks or walk around the little village.

Tour Program

  • 7:00 am – 8:00 am pick up

  • Once we enter the reserve, we drive 40 minutes aprox. among coastal jungle until we reach the boat dock

  • Laguna boat tour: explore mangrove forests, freshwater springs & the famous Boca Paila where the wetlands meet the sea

  • Lookout for manatees and crocodiles

  • Visit cays with colonies of incredible birds

  • Search for dolphins, sea turtles and more

  • Snorkel in the world´s second largest coral reef

  • Enjoy bathing in the clearest tropical water at ¨Nature's swimming pool¨

  • Delicious caribbean lunch in Punta Allen pueblo

  • 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. return

IMPORTANT TO KNOW 

  • Minimum participants :

Most of our group tours require a minimum of 4 people to run the tour. If we do not hit this minimum, we reserve the right to cancel the tour, in which case we will contact you to offer an alternative tour or send a refund.

 

  • Pick Up Time :

Please be aware that we will communicate your pick up time via a personalized email and it will vary from the automatic pick up time sent by the booking platform as we have to calculate it manually depending on your hotel/airbnb location.

  • Drop Off Time :

Please be aware that drop off time vary depending on hotel/villas locations and the rythm of each group.

 

  • Cancellation policy :

Each tour should be booked by paying a deposit.

  1. In case of cancellation more than 24 hrs before the pickup, we do not charge you any cost and will give you back your deposit.

  2. In case of cancellation between 24 and 12 hrs before the pickup México Kan Tours will take your deposit in order to pay for the costs already made.

  3. In case of cancellation less than 12 hrs before the pick up or in case of no show we will charge you 50% of the total amount of your tour.

Please be aware that this tour can be cancelled last minute for weather conditions reasons. If we have to cancel, we will offer alternatives or send a full refund.
